Editorial standards

• Figures come from the model's own listing and are checked against its title and bullet points.
• Grain capacity, resin volume, service flow and iron limits are the maker's own; the sizing tools print every assumption they add.
• A part is shown as fitting a valve only when its maker or listing names that valve or part number. Check the valve and part number on your own unit before ordering.
• Drain connections, plumbing changes and well-water treatment are flagged as work for a licensed plumber or water-treatment professional where the maker or local code calls for one.
• No health claims for softened water, salt-free conditioners or descalers beyond what the maker states, and no claim that a descaler softens water.
• Shortlists state the rule a product must meet and the figure they are ordered by.
• Commissions have no say in what is covered, how a list is ordered or what a page says a product can't do.
